About Liesl D
Welcome, I’m Liesl, pronounced Lees-uhl.
I’m a Certified Rolfer and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner whose work guides people back into connection with their bodies; their most innate vehicle for learning.
I’ve been running a successful and thriving practice as a fascial bodyworker since 2001 in London, Brighton and West Sussex.
My work draws on the richness of Rolfing and Somatic Experiencing; two transformational modalities that can change your experience of being fully alive in your body.
Through working with people from all walks of life, I’ve witnessed time and again how everyone can benefit from the wealth of this powerful process.
I teach my clients how to move on from the physical impact of accidents, surgery and restrictive patterns that may be holding them back, while supporting their nervous systems and bodies as they renegotiate the effects of these traumas. The techniques I use can also bring peace and relief to sufferers of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and its associated symptoms, which can get stuck within its layers for many years.
As the health and wellness industry has evolved over the last 25 years I have grown into my role as a teacher of cellular change. My work has always been about exploring the beginning of the story when one’s health began to shift. This remains a fascination to this day. I'm passionate for people to know more about their bodies in a bid to avoid illness and disease, while connecting to their longevity and health instinct. The way we live in and relate to our body determines its capacity for change.
Over the years of specialising in trauma I’ve become increasingly curious by how our own life experiences can be used to teach others. When I was six years old someone described me as a hyper-aware little girl, without realising that’s what undiagnosed PTSD could look like. As an adult when I began my practitioner training and looked back on my early life I felt amazed that it wasn’t detected: the signs were all there. Trauma is, after all, something we all go through at different times in our lives. And yet there was such a lack of knowledge and language for people’s stories to be told. This is what has propelled me in my career to strive for greater public awareness of trauma.
Rolfing and Somatic Experiencing continue to inspire me to guide and nurture you to change.
It's through our connection and relationship to our bodies that we find meaning and agency to flourish. As I’ve experienced in my own journey, my history has been my greatest teacher. Our stories don’t need to be wasted, they are vital for our transformation.
